A total waste of time.'Riveting! Bussi spins psychological suspense at its finest with this consuming tale of one child, two families, and the dark secrets that define us all. The voice, which I thought was acceptable for the first half hour or so, gets more and more irritating as the cumbersome writing gets more and more contrived. We are told that Credule, the investigator, was the "sole father figure" in Mark's life.but when Mark needs to reach him, he needs to ask a favor in order to get Credule's address and phone number.Seriously? After 18 years you don't know the guy's address or phone number? Pretty poor "father figure." We are also told, of course, that DNA was not available at the time of the crash-otherwise the whole plot would be irrelevant-and yet, the author is happy to have Mark texting the girl in the story with 2005 abandon even though it's 1998.). There is NOTHING redeeming here: two-dimensional characters, contrived plot, glaring errors (i.e. I wanted to hit every single character over the head for being an idiot. I kept trying to finish it and simply couldn't.
Insane that this book got a single good review, let alone multiple ones.
